About Tanuki Sunset
Tanuki Sunset puts you on a skateboard as a raccoon, cruising down a neon mountain road at sunset while synthwave plays. That's the whole premise, and it's enough. You steer left and right, drift around corners, and weave between cars. The score comes from drifts and near-misses.
Honestly, the vibe is 80% of why people love this. The gameplay itself is simple โ drift, dodge, don't crash โ but the combination of palm trees, pink sunset, and chill music hits a specific nerve. It's the kind of game you leave running while you're bored in class.
Controls
- Left / Right arrows โ steer
- Hold left or right โ initiate a drift
- Up arrow โ lean forward (less friction, more speed)
- Down arrow โ brake / slow turns
Tips
- Drift early, not late. Start the drift before the turn, not mid-corner. You'll keep more speed and get higher scores.
- Near-miss = combo. Passing cars at close range ramps the score multiplier. Brushing a car = game over, so it's a balance.
- Don't over-steer. Small inputs work better than mashing. The board has momentum; respect it.
Why it's here
Because if you finished Dadish and want something lower-stakes โ literally no "fail state" in the short term, just chill skating โ this is the companion piece. Same small-indie spirit, different mood.
